BATON ROUGE - The LSU men's basketball team concludes the month of January with another difficult assignment - a Saturday date at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center with the nation's No. 1 ranked basketball team, the Kentucky Wildcats.

LSU coach Paul Mainieri met with reporters Friday during the Tigers' annual Media Day activities prior to the squad's first practice of the spring semester.

ATHENS, Ga. - The 17th-ranked LSU gymnastics team has posted back-to-back season-high team scores, and the Tigers will look to continue that pattern when they face No. 7 Georgia at 3 p.m. CT Saturday in Stegeman Coliseum.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Lady Tigers saved the best for last during Friday's opening day of competition at the 2012 Razorback Invitational as defending NCAA Indoor champion Kimberlyn Duncan and Rebecca Alexander sprinted to the two fastest times in the NCAA this season in the 200-meter dash at the Randal Tyson Track Center at the University of Arkansas.

BATON ROUGE -- The 23rd ranked LSU women's Swimming and Diving squad (2-3, 1-1 SEC) jumped out to a lead on host Houston, Rice and Tulane at their quad-meet despite suffering numerous setbacks in the first day of competition.
